PROSTITUTION IN SAMOA

I'm sorry but I couldn't help noticing on my recent trip back the level of prostitution that Samoa has reached. I was completely taken aback at a bar one night where I encountered a young beautiful girl who might I add was with her 'pimp' who was as old as the hills and kept a close eye on her begged me to help her bring her back to Australia because she couldn't cope any longer with how her life was being led, my horror was only intensified when as we talked she pointed out more girls walking by who at first glance looked like tourists were prostitutes as well. Being a headstrong Samoan female who had a fulfilling childhood and upbringing my heart broke to learn of such things that obviously the so called 'politicians' sweep under the carpet. This issue eventually in some cases leads to AIDS and I guess such is life however I do think that prevention and educating not just Females but Males too can suppress severe repercussions that may eventuate in future.....

MMMMmmmmm Prostitution? Was that happened in W.Samoa or pago? i don't think its true. I was in Samoa last Christmas and i know all the paumuku who usually eva at the bars in Apia. Maybe you met the Paumuku who is popular in Samoa. She likes to trick people. Not all the womens there in the bar are prostitute. Maybe she want to go with you to Australia because she want to live a good life. And here's the truth there aren't any prostitute in Samoa only teine paumuku e faase'e palagi to get some money.

It was Christmas in Apia and what is the difference between a prostitute and that of an individual who tries to faase'e a palagi for money by enticing them with sex??? I also didn't imply that all females were prostitues so I suggest that in future, you thoroughly read what's being said and use your mafaufau (if any) before you respond!!!!

Ia aua le pa mai lou va'a. e fai lo'u mafaufau. Ga fai e le Alii kagaka uma o le lalolagi gei ma mafaufau. You were just saying that the girl you met pointed out some girls in the club that are prostitute. I didn't meant it was You who was saying it. But i'm telling you maybe or maybe not you were talking to the same girl who usually hang out in the bar. Anyways i think you are right about prostitution in samoa. I just heard that there's a new group of prostitute in samoa that's called "va'a fagota."
Peace out.

Lisa, can you report on anything positive from your trip to Samoa or was the highlight of your trip the hearsy story from a random trickster in Apia.
That last comment of yours was very condenscending on islanders in general: not much else happens in the islands, you just implied that prostitution was about the only thing that goes on otherwise!?! You should be ashamed to call yourself a Samoan cos I sure am!

prostitution is everywhere, we've seen it on tv and we god fearing people of samoa turn the blind eye because half believe that it exists half denies that it exist in samoa. nz has legalise it...probably an influence from up europe but never know, samoa might have it in the pipeline for legalisation of such an occupation that it might be on one of the new parties manifest who will contest the palota come 2011...imagine that...chuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

ia o motuga afa lava o le faatalanoaga o le mataupu o loo faatalatalanoaina.

reality is...samoa is not prone from the ongoing of the world as it evolves. manuia tele tiute ma faiva o le aso.

The more we encourage Tourism to Samoa, along with that comes prostitution because it is what people do when they are on vacation, especially men who are alone. That and child molestation. Be aware of these things because we are now becoming the tourist destination of choice in the S. Pacific with Survivor Samoa giving our islands so much publicity.

Man, this is a good point! I was in Samoa on business and stayed at hotel Aggies with two of my palagi work colleagues. And on a sunday just before lunch i decided to take my two work colleagues for a tuor around the island. Then as we about to get in our rental car was parked infront of the hotel, a white taxi went passed slowed down and two Samoan girls in it waving out as like we know them..? They stopped little further just after the bridge sought of waiting for us. We got in the our rental car and drove off and passed them ignoring them, and this taxi driver and the two girls followed us for a lengh of time so i stopped to see who it is..? The taxi came stopped next to our car and they started talking crap like how you doing? Going out to beach party? etc. The girls looked like definately prostitute and the taxi driver will be their boss or something, had tatoos on his arms had that kinda gangster wannabie look on him. And just told them we not and thank you leave us alone and drove off very quickly.. I never felt so cheap in my life, in my own country by the actions of these idiotic locals, that is not Samoa it used to be since i left in 1985. disbelief.gifno.gif
