CONGRATULATIONS to Robert Louis Stevenson's Secondary School for winning Samoa's Battle of the Minds 2011!

There can be no doubt now that RLS is one of the most prestigious in all of Samoa in relation to academic achievement (if not NUMBER ONE).

Well done to all those participating, and to all schools involved.

I can't wait for the youtube videos.

I think that's why it's a force to be reckoned with now. Smaller schools can hone more competition for placements and success. Bigger schools are harder to control, and there's more disparity within the student population (making it much more difficult for the teachers too).

Robert Louis Stevenson should be smiling in his grave hehe.

I'm not surprised; the RLS students (past and present) are well known for the plastic in their veins. I think Samco students are by far the more COMPETENT with their cultural heritage and identity. I think it's also a valid component to the OVERALL success of an individual.

What good is intellectual success if cultural identity is broken or missing?

:(

Good to hear that they're now making amends to improve the situation.

Like totally! They will now go on to compete against Winners from other Islands such as Fiji. The same as the year before and the year before that. I don't know that Samco has ever won a Battle of the Minds, Hahaha!

Turns out you were wrong Hunter:

Robert Louis Stevenson School at Tafaigata has won this years Digicel Battle of the Minds Quiz (BOMQ). In doing so, they have ended Samoas College three year reign at the competition. The team of Olisana Mariner, Chatelle Peters and Salamasina Tofa defeated Samoa College, 250-245, during a tense final on Saturday.

At the beginning of the competition, the brightest minds from eleven schools around Upolu took part. Organised by the Rotaract Club of Apia, the competition lasted six weeks.

The final was heightened with excitement as family and friends joined in to support their teams and the students were determined to perform their utmost best. Masa Faasau, Coach of RLS Secondary School was proud of her teams achievement.

To come away with a win, was all their own work. Battle of the Minds gives the students self-confidence and allows them to interact with other students.

The winning team comprised of Ms Tofa (Arts), Ms Mariner (Commerce) and Ms Peters (Science). Ms Mariner said the competition has motivated [us] to study and prepare early for School Certificate.

RLS also acknowledged the support of their school, teachers, family and friends. The official prize giving for BOMQ will take place this Saturday at the National University of Samoa where special awards will be presented to acknowledge all participating schools.

In that case then, I don't think RLSS competed locally in the last 3 years, LOL. Within that time I saw RLSS students in their School Uniform compete against Fijian students on Television in Fiji. So maybe RLSS only competed Internationally then. I wouldn't be surprised, LMAO.

Are you by any chance a former RLS graduate? LOL unless you can provide links to such videos I'm inclined to think that you probably are haha.

Not unless Someone posts them up on Youtube or their Father owns TV Pasefika whereby they can grab a copy of the tape; then I cannot provide a Link. I really did watch it on TV in Fiji. Only RLSS can go International, Hahaha!

And FYI; I never attended RLSS; but my Neighbours did and that's why I know stuff about it, LOL.
